my village has a little kid decorated bike parade -- with some bagpiping and lots of brownies and little league baseball players. it is followed by hot dogs in the park.

hannah and i went to Kalmus Beach in Hyannis for the town fire works. they are shot from a barge in the bay -- down by the Kennedy Memorial. we ood and ahhed and then laughed at the communalness of the event.

and then it was done. although the fourth is traditionally the real kick off of summer on the Cape.
