Rimel Neffati

Sometimes you see things and just go mad. Right? When I saw the photos of Rimel Neffati, it was thus. They are just the sort of thing I like, twice removed, distressed, damaged, almost revealing self-portraits of a woman with a name to envy. The name evokes contradictory allusions.

And so I wrote to her and asked her if I could show a few images and link her. I think she said yes. I am not certain where she is from, but her English is delightfully. . . what should I say--poetic? I think she said yes.

Here are some links to her work. I think you will like what she is doing. Perhaps you'll want to invent yourself in some way, too.

And another.

  1. nice. i like the black cat in the city photo. very man ray-ish feeling to a bunch of them. i bet she's French.

i grew a bit weary -- perhaps because i'm not a huge fan of artists making themselves the star of their own work - stays on track to my dislike of all the diary entry poetry that is popular now. you know a tour of one's own navel. my initial gut reaction issues with blogs etc. :)

but perhaps IT IS her diary that she feels compelled to share with strangers.

In any case, she's beautiful and talented -- those eyes and lips, and it was a lovely way to drink my coffee before heading off to work. I liked the landscapes muchly. Its fun to see where you are.
