Not a Haiku
Time once again, on a cloudy swamp of a morning, to think of something to say. The news is on my mind because I've spent the last forty-five minutes reading it. "Fuck Texas," I want to say. They have a petition to secede from the the United States. They have the 15th largest economy in the world, I just read. I say let them form their own country, then attack them as foreign hostiles. Then we can really deal with those dumb shits down there in a way they understand. I was also reading about "Black Hotels" in China. They've been locking Negroes up at a Holiday Inn in Shanghai, apparently, against their will. O.K. Not Negroes. Just people the government doesn't like. It is a bad place, China, with secret prisons and mental hospitals where they send you if you don't think right, like if they take your farm and you think that isn't proper. They are also shutting down the free internet. They have internet police. For the good of The People, of course.
Bad, right? If you think so, read this (link). The U.S. asks for more reports on private citizens than any other country in the world, more than India, for god's sake. Of the People. For the People.
You don't want to be "People."
But I have a quandary. There are chunks of New Jersey still without power. The Times did a report on how bad the utilities company there is run. That's what happens when you let corporations operate without regulation and oversight, I think. Corporations require government regulation. So. . . what about People?
Discuss amongst yourselves.
Just be glad you are not living here (link). I, like you, have been screaming about water contamination for decades. Again, this is what happens when you do not have oversight of the People for Profit. They don't run corporations to make their hometown proud.
But it is good to know that even The People at the top of the chain--I mean The Big People, not the Little People--are as nuts as shit house rats, too. It is not the affair that gets me. Anyone can understand that. It is the threatening emails of one women to another. And, of course, the inability to see that nuttiness from the start. Those spy movies. . . they don't just make that stuff up, I guess.
But I don't want to be topical. This is not what I meant to say. It is too easy to comment on the daily news. It is common. Everybody does it.
What they don't do is. . . .
A man, a cat, a
Gloomy morning.
The neighbors went to work
a long time ago.

ReplyDeleteYou could remove the dangling a and the The before neighbors.
It's good. You should end or begin all posts with a Haiku. I love them.
I particularly enjoyed the simile
ReplyDelete"as nuts as shit house rats."
We don't have to treat the Texans as foreigners; we can treat them as traitors. I'd empty 60,000 prisoners from the Texas jails and everyone who signed the petition would be arrested for rebellion and incarcerated.
ReplyDeleteL, Of course.
ReplyDeleteA, I made it up :)
LB, But we could build a wall and not let them immigrate.
