It Was the 3rd of June

Know what I mean?

Q sent me a link to this and I stayed up all night listening to the songs.  I was actually in bed with my iPad and my bluetooth speakers, but I didn't make it through the list until the wee hours.  Now I am dragging.  Listening to the songs was like looking at titties on the internet.  I'd tell myself I had to go to sleep but then I'd say, "Just one more."  Coincidentally, I heard a short NPR piece on "Ode to Billie Joe" as it was the 3rd of June.  I guess.  But it is worth listening to.  I was driving in my car when it came on and immediately I was caught by the crazy strings in the song.  The damn thing is just haunting.

And so I stayed up listening to Hank Williams, of course, and Patsy Cline and some unexpected artist's like the Louvin Brothers and Harry Choates.  There was too much bad seventies and eighties country in there and they even had that horrible Garth Brooks, but they made up for that with Dwight Yokum and Lyle Lovett so I gave them that.

None of this will help me today, of course, when everything is due and I am asleep at the wheel (they were not mentioned in the top 100).  Perhaps I will have to skip the gym this evening, but I don't really see how that will help.  Nothing will, of course, except a good night's sleep.  I will just have to wait it out until I get there.
