Yesterday's potential seemed possibly horrific, and I was in no hurry to meet it head on. There was the Xterra that I wasn't sure was fixed. There were the tree guys. There was the same old same old same old.
I thought I had it in me to tell a tale today, and I just gave it the old college try, but I can't do it. It is just too much effort and labor for me today. It's a good tale, but long and difficult to interweave all the disparate parts into a nice brocade, so it will have to sit still and wait for a better day.
I'll just short hand it for now. I drove the car to the store, and it didn't overheat. I drove it more after that, and it seemed fine. When I got to my house, the tree guys were there. I saw Mr. Tree, but he was on his way out so I didn't have to have a long conversation. I showered and left my house mid-afternoon. It makes me anxious to sit in the house when other people are working, so I came back to my mother's and took her grocery shopping which is something she said she wanted to do. At day's end, I felt some relief. The trees were looking good when I left the house and my fear of storm damage this year was much abated. Sure, I still have to drop my trousers in return, but I have come to grips with that now. Damage to my house would be much more expensive since I don't have the kind of insurance that would pay for that.
That's another story.
I got a call from my Yosemite buddy last night. He is in town. So is T who called just minutes ago. We are on for lunch. My hope is that I will be able to act as though I am not in a deep dark hole and will be able to carry on a normal conversation. It worries me.
But OK. It's all good. New tariffs have been levied and everything will be more expensive. Oil is topping $100/barrel and I'm afraid to eat fruits and vegetables. I live in the Valley of Death, and I am fearful.
Still, I don't have a friend who isn't somewhere vacationing. Alain is in Chile. My mountain buddy is in the Sunny South. My midwest friend is galloping all over the country. T is traveling as is my conservative buddy.
But I'm right here taking care of business, which I must do now. Time to make a breakfast from ma.
It could be worse.
