It is International Women's Day. I know this because it says so over at the 591 Photography blog. I didn't see anything about it in the Times. But as you all know, there is no bigger appreciator of international women than I. International women are the best, though I like Provincial women as well. They don't seem to get a day to celebrate, though.
Gender, like race, has become a hotly contested term. It is difficult to say who is what. Gay men who are hyper-feminine and lesbians who have eschewed all of that don't seem to share the same ideas of gender. And now that hormones have been synthesized. . . it is not even a matter of that.
But if you don't like it, you can blame Ray Davies. He started it all with "Lola," I think.
El-Oh-El-Ay.
NOW. . . I'll call my mother and ask her what she wants to do. Lunch, at least. It is a beautiful day to celebrate.
