When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more.
I don't know how much I care any more. It hardly matters what you do. Whatever it is, someone's against it. There is an argument against everything. And yet. . . Putin and Co. rape, kill, and pillage the Ukraine and its people with China's approval. The West is a giant evil empire crumbling under the weight of its own diversity. The East is in ascension. . . and is terrifying. So. . . I should care what someone thinks of the way I choose to live my life?
Only if it means economic sanctions.
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me.
I become more cowardly every day. I am typical, I guess. Anxiety and fear plague the country's collective psyche. I'm not seeing a counselor or a life coach yet, but I'm using more chemicals than ever, I think. Oh, don't worry. They are of the common variety, nothing exotic or extreme, just the everyday things you can now get without a prescription. But I move ever closer to poppy cultivation. I doubt that opium, a latex goo from one of nature's most beautiful flowers, has a more deleterious effect on the brain and body than does alcohol, something steps removed from its origin.
Just put me in that big, velvet blanket and let me dream.
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak.
A professor at Country Club College just got fired over a female student's Title IX complaint. He said some things, apparently, that had sexual overtones. Undertones, too, I guess. One of the newsworthy statements was his stating in class that "Covid has weakened my libido." The woman who filed the complaint was interviewed on camera. She was wild with glee that no other "little Kathy's" will have to be under his tutelage.
I'm sure that there was more to the story, right?
I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now.
Even in illness, men are libidinous, I guess. You don't hear about so many women being fired over Title IX activities. A few women, but not so many. And, from what I've recently read, 60% of the university teaching force is made up of women.
Men. Why do they do it?
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
You know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now.
Houlebecq is an idiot savant. I have liked everything I've read by him. But they will get him soon, I'm sure. He just doesn't seem to care.
